Five TV Shows that got cancelled way too early

  1. Anne with an E

Anne with an E is a show about a young orphan named Anne who is adopted by Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert. It is based of the book “Anne of Green Gables” following Anne and her adventures with friends, heartbreak, passion, and the unknown. It was truly inspiring to see Anne grow into a powerful young woman who stands up for what she believes in. In my opinion, the ending was rushed and the fans not only wanted to see more of the vivacious young Anne and her adventures, but also wanted to see more of her and Gilbert and their young romance.

Although it is a Canadian show that Netflix adopted, they never gave fans the true reason they ended the show. Fans have made petitions that got millions of signatures, and protested the ending of the show. The third and final season of the show was released from Netflix on January 3 of this year; many of the fans are still hopeful for another season but with no more new information, we are doubtful the show will renew the show.

2. The Society

Many agree that The Society was cancelled way too early. The show is about a town of teens that go on a bus ride for a field trip, but had to turn around because the trip got cancelled. They come home to find everyone else in the town had mysteriously vanished. A group full of hormonal, emotional, wild teens left to defend for themselves, how will they survive?

I guess we will never know. The show ended after the first season in 2019 due to Covid. The cast and producers felt it was unsafe to continue with the second season so they cancelled the whole series with no talk about renewing it.

Although the fandom understands why it had to be delayed, they don’t understand why it had to be cancelled completely. With just one season of the show, you can imagine how many unanswered questions there are. It seems it will be that way until the producers and cast are ready for another season, if they are ever ready.

3. Girlboss

Girlboss is about a young girl named Sophia who has a passion for fashion. The show goes through the ups and downs of her life, and her creation of her fashion business. It shows her struggles, and her perseverance with her company and being her own boss.

The show was ended after one season which aired in April of 2017. It was cancelled due to the negative reviews and not enough viewers. I didn’t know this show exited until late June of 2019 and was upset when I found out it was cancelled. Videos I’ve seen about the show contradict the negative views from 2017, but I was more upset by the fact people hated the show because it was a woman who started her own company and became super successful. Girlboss showed the woman's potential and her successful company, and I would have loved to see it expanded. Since that was over three years ago, I don’t think the show will be renewed anytime in the near future or at all.

4. I Am Not Okay With This

I Am Not Okay With This is a show about a teenage girl named Sydney who is trying to figure out her life, with a small twist: she has powers. The show gives us a glimpse in the life of Sydney Novak. A teenage girl with mysterious powers, a messed up childhood, and her new found relationships.

It ended after one season due to Covid and “no longer worth to invest in” according to one of the creators of the show, Jonathan Entwistle. Besides the magical powers aspect of the show, many teenagers can relate to the twisted world of high school and the struggles that come with it. Not only have fans been outraged of the cancellation of the show, they have also noted that the show had so much potential to grow.

5.Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists

The spin-off Pretty Little liars: The Perfectionists was about Allison DiLaurentis and Mona Vanderwaal who are now teachers at the University of Beacon Hills. They thought they escaped the perils of Rosewood, only to find out they are now involved in a whole other mystery. Just like the original Pretty Little Liars, the spin-off had lies, secrets, and murder. It just didn’t have any more seasons to go along with it.

The show was canceled after one season due to low ratings. Although it had low ratings, they left a whole mystery unsolved without giving its viewers any satisfaction or answers.

The television show ‘Nine Lives of Chloe King’ was cancelled after one season, because of it was doing moderately okay compared to other shows and they still released a script of season two to give viewers peace that they know how it was supposed to end. My question is that if networks decide to cancel a show, why don’t they write a script or give some information or answers to viewers instead of leaving them to wonder what could have happened.
